This report summarises the current global treatment landscape for hepatitis C. The authors highlight 2014 as a 'turning-point in the history of the pandemic', but emphasise the detrimental impact of pharmaceutical company marketing strategies in making universal access to treatment practically unachievable. Suggestions for improving treatment access are put forth based on an examination of the lessons learnt from the fight against HIV/AIDS.
