This report, produced by the Foundation for Liver Research and endorsed by the Lancet Commission on Liver Disease, examines the financial costs of viral hepatitis, along with alcohol misuse and obesity. The report also carries recommendations, which include improving access to testing for hepatitis C and protecting harm reduction services such as needle exchange and opioid substitution for injecting drug users.

Good practice case study: Community pharmacy testing on the Isle of Wight
This HCV Action good practice case study looks at a community pharmacy testing pilot on the Isle of Wight. It involved the delivery of blood borne virus testing at 22 community pharmacies from September 2014 - May 2015. Primarily focused on increasing the numbers of people tested and diagnosed for hepatitis C, it trebled the number of tests carried out in community open access settings, and led to a significant increase in the numbers of people being referred to specialist care.

Good practice case study: Edinburgh Access Practice outreach service
This HCV Action good practice case study focuses on Edinburgh Access Practice's outreach service, offering testing and treatment for hepatitis C to the homeless population. In the period from March 2014 to December 2016, of the 80 referrals received, 59 patients attended (70%) and 25 started treatment, compared with typical hospital clinical attendance rates of 30-50%.
