    Tackling Blood-Borne Viruses, a report produced by NAT (National AIDS Trust), features guidance and case studies on tackling BBVs, including hepatitis C, in prisons. The report is aimed primarily at healthcare staff based in prisons but may also be relevant to others involved in the management of prisons and the health and wellbeing of people in prison.

    This document summarises The Hepatitis C Trust’s Outreach and Testing Van service, which aims to increase diagnoses by reaching groups who may be at risk of hep C but who currently cannot, or do not, access testing through existing means. Given that most people in the UK today are undiagnosed, the testing van aims to overcome some of the key barriers to diagnosis.

  • Webinar: Hepatitis C Outreach
    Outreach hepatitis C care, including ‘pop-up’ clinics, as well as the use of testing vans, is a crucial aspect of the hepatitis C elimination programme. Such outreach work, which does not rely on static services to deliver care, can be an important way to reach people who are the most under-served by these services. This webinar covered the importance of outreach, as well as specific good practice examples, such as van-based outreach work, pop-up testing during the Covid-19 pandemic and Point of Care Test and Treat outreach in the West Midlands.

  • Webinar: Under-served groups for hepatitis C testing and treatment
    This webinar sought to look at how services can provide hepatitis C testing and treatment to people who have been traditionally under-served by health services. This workshop sought to discuss: - Sex workers - Gypsy, Roma and Traveller people - South Asian communities - Migrants For each of these groups, this video features a presentation exploring the general barriers to healthcare that they face and examples of projects which have improved access to healthcare for them along with a Q&A session at the end.

  • Wirral Drug and Alcohol Addiction Team (DAAT) Hep C Strategy
    The National Treatment Agency’s (NTA) aspirational target is for each DAAT partnership to ensure that 100% of their previous/current injecting drug user (IDU) population to have been tested for Hepatitis C. Many DAATs across the country have struggled to achieve this target and Wirral DAAT’s performance at the end of 2007/08 is at 20%.

  • Workshop webinar: Hepatitis C in the justice system - going beyond prisons
    This is a recording of a webinar covering initiatives to test and treat people for hepatitis C in contact with the justice system in England, held on the 23rd October 2020. Previous events and initiatives in this area have aimed to support people in prisons. Whilst this is important and continues, this webinar focused on new initiatives for people in contact with other areas of the justice system, such as probation services. The webinar featured 3 talks:
