The 2022 Hepatitis C in England report from the UK Health Security Agency reports that deaths from hepatitis C fell by 35% between 2015 and 2020. The data shows the estimated prevalence of chronic hepatitis C in England has continued to decline to around 81,000 in 2020 (compared to 129,000 in 2015) – a 37% fall in the general population. Provisional data suggests that there has been a 40% decline in people who inject drugs.

Produced following a Parliamentary round-table event hosted in 2014 by Virendra Sharma MP and supported by Bristol-Myers Squibb, this report aims to identify the steps required to improve the diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C, which is a particular issue for the South Asian community. It explores how services might best be designed to improve patient outcomes, and includes a short good practice case study.
