Good practice case study: Community pharmacy testing on the Isle of Wight

Oct 2016 by HCV Action
This HCV Action good practice case study looks at a community pharmacy testing pilot on the Isle of Wight. It involved the delivery of blood borne virus testing at 22 community pharmacies from September 2014 - May 2015. Primarily focused on increasing the numbers of people tested and diagnosed for hepatitis C, it trebled the number of tests carried out in community open access settings, and led to a significant increase in the numbers of people being referred to specialist care.

This case study looks at why the pilot was established, how it operated, and the outcomes that it achieved.
