Hepatitis C in the UK - 2013 Report

Download
The most recent 2013 national estimates suggest that around 215,000 individuals are chronically infected with hepatitis C (HCV) in the UK. It is acknowledged that both hospital episode statistics and death certification underestimate true numbers of admissions and deaths from HCV-related end-stage liver disease and liver cancer, but nonetheless both continue to rise in the UK. This Public Health England report presents data on preventing infection, raising awareness, testing, diagnosis and treatment of hepatitis C in the UK, and outlines areas in which public health programmes must make progress in order to tackle HCV infection.
