NHS Atlas of Variation in Healthcare for People with Liver Disease

In England and in contrast to other major causes of death, liver disease is affecting increasing numbers of increasingly younger people than ever before. All three main causes of liver disease – alcohol-related liver disease, fatty liver disease and viral hepatitis – continue to affect increasing numbers of people despite the fact that all three are preventable. The NHS Atlas of Variation for People With Liver Disease provides area-specific comparative disease data to highlight variation in burden, services and outcomes, and to show where commissioners need to focus attention to eliminate waste and increase value.
