In February 2006, more than 18 months after the launch of the Department of Health's 2004 Action Plan for Hepatitis C setting out required actions for Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) and NHS Hospital Trusts, the All-Party Parliamentary Hepatology Group undertook a survey of PCTs and NHS Hospital Trusts in order to audit what actions they had taken to fulfil the Action Plan’s stated requirements. Hepatitis C Action Plan for England: July 2004
The growing importance of hepatitis C as a public health issue in England was highlighted in 2002 with the publication of the Government’s Hepatitis C Strategy for England. It brought together existing initiatives to tackle hepatitis C and suggested how prevention, diagnosis and treatment could be improved. This Action Plan, which is based on best practice, serves as a broad framework for implementation of the Hepatitis C Strategy for England.
