Around half of current injecting drug users will have hepatitis C, although this prevalence rate varies across the country.  Find here tools, resources and other relevant documents to help drugs service staff raise awareness of hepatitis C amongst service users, and improve testing and access to care.

  • Hepatitis C Action Plan for England: July 2004
    The growing importance of hepatitis C as a public health issue in England was highlighted in 2002 with the publication of the Government’s Hepatitis C Strategy for England. It brought together existing initiatives to tackle hepatitis C and suggested how prevention, diagnosis and treatment could be improved. This Action Plan, which is based on best practice, serves as a broad framework for implementation of the Hepatitis C Strategy for England. It reflects ongoing work that needs to be sustained and intensified and also identifies new areas for action.

    This report, produced by the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction, provides an overview of the epidemiology of hepatitis C in Europe. It contains chapters on issues such as providing hepatitis C treatment to people who inject drugs, strategies to improve hepatitis C care and increasing uptake of treatment among people who inject drugs, and hepatitis C prevention among people who inject drugs.

  • Hepatitis C Baseline Data Review: Greater Manchester
    As part of the service redesign project the NHS Commissioning Service and the Commissioning Business Service conducted a baseline data review (BDR) of the hospitals in Greater Manchester that were treating hepatitis C patients.
