    An evaluation of a project in which Addaction and The Hepatitis C Trust partnered together to support people with a history of injecting drug use who were engaged with Addaction services into hepatitis C treatment. This report evaluates the success of the pilot's three key interventions:

    * Peer education workshops

    * A 'buddy' scheme

    * Workforce development

  • Good practice case study: Nottingham outreach clinics
    This HCV Action good practice case study looks at the community outreach work done by Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. Statistics showed that between 2000 and 2002, 256 people were diagnosed with hepatitis C in Nottingham. Of these, just 49% were referred to a specialist clinic, 27% attended and 10% received treatment. During the 2010-12 period, after the establishment of community outreach services in the area, 80% of people diagnosed were referred to a specialist clinic, 70% attended and 38% started treatment.

  • Hepatitis C in England 2017 report
    This report by Public Health England has been produced to support monitoring of the recently agreed Global Health Sector Strategy on Viral Hepatitis goals, including the elimination of hepatitis C as a major public health threat by 2030. The report summarises the impact of action plans in England to drive down mortality from hepatitis C, reduce the number of new infections, and outlines the actions required to make further progress.

    On Friday 10th February 2017, HCV Action and NHS England held a Midlands & East Hepatitis C Educational Event in Nottingham. With hepatitis C Operational Delivery Networks (ODNs) still relatively new in operation, the event was held with the aim of offering the chance for ODNs across the Midlands and East region to come together to discuss their experiences, share best practice and develop solutions to some of the challenges they face as they seek to ensure the highest standards of hepatitis C care and treatment.

  • Guidelines on hepatitis B and C testing
    These are the first WHO guidelines on testing for chronic hepatitis B and C infection and complement published guidance by WHO on the prevention, care and treatment of chronic hepatitis C and hepatitis B infection. These guidelines outline the public health approach to strengthening and expanding current testing practices for hepatitis B and C, and are intended for use across age groups and populations.

    This report, produced by IMS Health and commissioned by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI), provides information related to the uptake of Direct Acting Antiviral treatments (DAAs) over the last five years, to June 2016. The intention of the report is to benchmark the UK – in relation to patient access to these medicines – compared with other European countries. It finds that there have been significant variances in the ability of patients to access these medicines.

  • National Clinical Guidelines for the treatment of HCV in adults
    These Scottish guidelines, updated in January 2016, provide expert guidance to Health Boards, Area Drug and Therapeutics Committees, and treating clinicians on the efficacy of available treatments for hepatitis C. They also act as a clinical reference source for NHS National Procurement to produce rankings on cost-effectiveness. Development of the guidance was a collaboration between Scotland's viral hepatitis clinical leads and MCN co-ordinators network, National Services Scotland, and Healthcare Improvement Scotland.
